Sisterhood is one of the six values that our founders held so close to their hearts. We love spending time with our sisters every chance we get, but we also host special events to bring our entire chapter together.
In the past year, we have held various sisterhood events such as our annual trip to Eckert's farm to collect apples and pick pumpkins, roller skating (even if we did end up a bit sore), pajama parties complete with hot chocolate bars, and renting out a whole move theater just for us! No matter the event, we always have a blast with our sisters.
How do Alpha Phis celebrate their hard work?
Our sisters are very dedicated to developing in each of our core values, and to reward them for those efforts, we celebrate the end of each semester with a semi-formal or formal dance! The past few years we have traveled to fabulous St. Louis venues, enjoyed delicious dinners, danced all night, took goofy pictures in the photo booths and even had an ice cream bar for dessert!
Membership in Alpha Phi doesn't end at graduation. Our collegiate members are given the opportunity to become alumnae and join a network of lifelong Alpha Phis from chapters everywhere! We love to connect with our local sisters a couple times a year to reunite that bond, whether it be through a luncheon after initiation, tailgating at the homecoming game or spending the afternoon doing something interactive, like painting.
Alongside these fun, event-filled moments with our alumnae, we are also fortunate to have local women, ranging from recent graduates to women who have collegiate-aged children, make up our strong advisory board! These women value the life-long friendships and networking relationships that they have gained from being members in Alpha Phi. They are so enthusastic about volunteering their time to mentor collegiate women to have those same positive experiences.
Our advisors make up a diverse group, ranging from police officers, teachers, nurses, stay at home moms to business professionals. They are eager to watch us grow into our chosen professions and offer assistance when they can. Advisors attend our weekly chapter meetings, assist us in Primary Recruitment, help us negotiate contracts with venus and vendors, as well as attend trainings with us. They are a true example that Alpha Phi isn't just four years... it's for life.

What do the women of Alpha Phi do in their free time?
With as many sisters as we have, it's easy to find something going on or somewhere to be! A major benefit to fraternity and sorority life is getting to make so many new connections on campus and in the community. One of the best parts about attending SIUe is not only being a part of the bustling metro east, but also living in such close proximity to St. Louis. Edwardsville has many places to shop and eat, a unique downtown area, endless bike trails and other fun activities like bowling and the trampoline park to enjoy with sisters. Just a short drive away, St. Louis is the perfect little getaway to grab a few sisters and make a day of it, whether it be going going a baseball or hockey game, visiting an art museum or even checking out the Arch! SIUe has a campus full of opportunities in organizations and clubs, focusing on academics, athletics, and community service. In these other organizations, our women are very active and some even hold positions!
How does Alpha Phi form relationships with the fraternity men on campus?
We have the opportunity to make connections with the fraternity men several times a year, through various service and social mixers around the community. Some things we have done in the past include bowling, going to the trampoline park, playing laser-tag, attending a drive-in movie, going to the St Louis Zoo, making care packages and blankets, and so much more!
Here in Alpha Phi, we love welcoming our new members into a family. One of the ways we meet all of these amazing women is through our Ivy Linker program, where they connect with active sisters and are shown what it means to be an Alpha Phi. To strengthen our sisterhood bond, we have a Big Sister, Little Sister program too. In this, new members (Little Sisters) are paired with active members (Big Sisters) for a mentorship. The Big Sister will be a friend, confidant, mentor, shoulder to cry on, support system and so much more, making it easier for our new members to transition into being away from home, college life, sorority life and the next big steps of their individual lives.
